ESTATE VINEYARD
ANCIENT TERROIR WITH AN
EYE TOWARD THE FUTURE
“The topography and geology of the region are unlike any other site I have ever worked. High elevation, good drainage and a unique chalky soil—these were all intriguing elements. Realizing that I was also standing in the cradle of winemaking sent a proverbial chill up my back.”
- Paul Hobbs
After formalizing their partnership in 2008, Paul and the Yacoubians searched diligently for a suitable location for their estate vineyard. After visiting several winegrowing regions throughout the country, they settled on the rugged, remote province of Vayots Dzor, selecting a 44-acre site on the eastern edge of the region near the village of Aghavnadzor, at an elevation averaging 4,600 feet.
Today, the Yacoubian-Hobbs estate vineyard is planted to ten varieties, with a focus on four ancient indigenous Armenian grapes that anchor our portfolio of wines. The site’s pronounced diurnal shifts, driven by its extreme altitude, together with well-drained, rocky volcanic soils, yield wines of remarkable balance and depth—a tribute to the region’s millennia-old relationship with the cultivation of the wine grape.

OUR TEAM
We work with a dedicated local team who meticulously manages our vineyard with the support and guidance of Paul, who travels to the region throughout the year.
“I knew that partnering with Paul meant production of only the highest quality wines, wines that reflected their terroir, made in small quantities, with the least amount of intervention. I was elated that we were pioneering a movement that would hopefully result in placing Armenia on the map of premier winemaking regions.”
